The location was brilliant - a 10-ish minute walk from Piccadilly train station and plenty of shops and what not nearby, so ideal for our group. The staff in the pub are very lovely and helpful, and the pub itself is nice and cosy with a relaxed atmosphere and has a good range of drinks. Our room was bigger than we expected so is great for 3 people. The beds were spaced out really well so you don't feel like you're sleeping on top of each other like you get in some hotels. We also loved having the little half-en-suite (shower and sink) to get changed and brush teeth in; the shared main bathroom with the toilet wasn't an issue for us, but it was nice to have a little place to get changed within our room instead of having to venture through the hallway each time. The place was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We felt the price we paid was an absolute bargain, especially considering we booked quite late for a night with 50,000+ Green Day fans invading the city. Overall we were extremely happy and would definitely stay again!

A really welcoming place to stay. Sandra was nice about checking me in very late after I was delayed. And the kitchen head went out of her way to make me a really good vegan breakfast even though it wasn't on the menu. Just genuinely warm people who seem to enjoy hospitality and do it well. Room and bathroom were spotless, hats off to the cleaners too! I like that you get a kettle and tea/coffee even though it's just a basic room. The building is about 200 years old and it's fun to stay in if you like that sort of thing (I do). The location in the Northern Quarter is great, right between the centre of town and the station.

Lovely bunch of staff and management. Very welcoming. Nice atmosphere. Got speaking with some locals. Place has just been revamped. It's nice and cosy. I booked a single room for one night, had a brilliant sleep in the nice, very comfortable bed. The mattress was lovely and think, like sleeping on a cloud. Grabbed a nice shower in the morning and felt very relaxed and home from home. I vist manchester for business quite frequently, and i normally used to stay in Britania hotels. But this place is a nice little gem in the heart of the city. I will definitely be booking again.

Great location (quieter than I expected). Room comfy and had everything I needed - the kettle was a nice touch but it would have been lovely to have one tea/coffee and a tiny milk provided or a note that you needed to bring your own on the booking. Alas, on the night I stayed there was no food available in the bar, but there were other locations nearby serving so it wasn't a problem. Everywhere was clean and tidy, good wifi, good tv, friendly staff. This was great value and I would stay here again!

Crown and Anchor is great little pub with rooms above with shared bathrooms - the rooms are small, cheap and functional, essentially nothing more than beds - but its superb location and value for money. Has parking within 1min (£15 a night), great pub and staff, breakfast is not included but guests get 25% off and the sausage/egg ciabatta and cup coffee is £7 and is absolutely superb. Pub has free pool table, good beers and shows sport, very busy!
